September & October Round-Up

It's been a very busy couple of months - read on to see what's been going on at VeloRunner and CTL.

September saw the Velo Vicious Vertical event take place. The hill climb took part over three stages; Beech, Hanchurch and Moddershall. 38 riders took part and 23 of those completed all 3 rounds with the top few positions being extremely tight, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th seperated by a second each! The overall top 3 were:

1st - Will Corden (VeloRunner RT)

2nd - Tony Cope (Leek CC)

3rd - Chris Bailey (VeloRunner RT)

Category Winners were:

Senior - Will Corden (VeloRunner RT)

Women - Emily Meakin (Fusion Velo Performance)

Juvenile - Sam Hall (VeloRunner RT)

Junior - No qualifying rider who completed all 3 events

V40 - Tony Cope (Leek CC)

V50 - Ray Morris (NTC)

V60 - Andy Gale (Velo M)

A big thank you to everyone who took part and all the hard work from Steve Hall, Si Williams and Neil Batten for running the event.

CTL have been back in schools teaching children from reception upwards about riding their bikes. So far we have completed multiple Level 1, 2 and 3 courses as well as balance bike sessions, L2R sessions, bike maintenance sessions and transition rides!

With half term approaching it is a good time to remind everyone about our Holiday camps. Currently there are still spaces on all of our courses at Uttoxeter and Meadowside (Burton) for learn to ride and cycle fun sessions.

September and October has seen lots of new bikes coming through our doors. One of the newest brands we have taken on is Orbea. With a huge range of bikes VeloRunner has already sold multiple Orbeas in different styles, most as standard builds but free of charge you can custom colour your own bike! We are expecting one rather pink custom Orbea to appear soon. Orbea's configuartor can consume hours of your life with the added bonus of being able to send your design to us to order exactly how you specced and coloured it!

Two of the standouts so far are the Orbea Orca Aero Disc and the Orbea Rallon.

Moving away from the Spanish carbon bikes and onto something a bit more erm...shiny. Another one of our newer brands Litespeed provided the perfect birthday treat for Pete. If you're looking for some titanium check out Litespeed's range of bikes online or pop in store for a chat.

Love them or loathe them E-Bikes are here to stay. What we can all agree on is that they are getting better each year. Take a look at the new Bianchi Aria E-bike, it looks fantastic and unless you know where to look you may not have guessed it was electric.

As part of VeloRunner and CTL's work with Keele University, we have provided them with 3 electric mountain bikes for staff to loan throughout the year. For anyone that has ridden Keele bank before you will understand how grateful the staff are for this opportunity.

Some of you may have seen on our previous posts about our Tuesday Night Ride that is coming to an end. It is not the end of the mountain bike ride though as we will be continuing the same layout on a Wednesday night instead.

There will be a final Tuesday night ride on 30th October that will be a little special - keep any eye out for event details on Facebook.

Finally, we have just received stock of the ON Running Cloud Surfer. Our running display is looking nice and full at the moment so pop down and try some on.

The eagle eyed among you may have already spotted our special offers appearing on Facebook, if you haven't seen them already then be sure to have a look!
